Teso Ellis is a singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Asheville, NC, and a founding member of the genre-fluid soul band Chilltonic.
Known for his warm, nostalgic sound and laid-back groove, Teso’s indie folk music features lofi hip hop grooves accompanied by a sound reminiscent of classic soul and 90s alternative rock to create music that feels both intimate and expansive.
Since forming Chilltonic in 2016, he’s performed at some of Asheville’s most beloved venues, including The Orange Peel, The Salvage Station, and The Grey Eagle.
Teso is also a committed member of the local arts community. Through his work with True Noble, an art collective he founded in 2022, he supports and uplifts other Asheville creatives through collaborative events and showcases. Whether on stage or behind the scenes, Teso brings a thoughtful, grounded energy to everything he’s involved in.
“…keep your eyes out for Chilltonic, a trio fronted by Teso Ellis, who cut his teeth playing the streets of Asheville. You may have caught them at the beginning of the pandemic, rolling through downtown jamming on a flatbed truck, and I hope we get to see them doing it some more as the cold weather lifts. Their presence on the streets would be a much-needed spark to set our city’s music scene back into action for the spring and summer seasons.”
